I ran on the treadmill at the Y today. I ran for 24 minutes at 7.4 mph and then I ran the random program for 8 minutes at a 4 intensity.

Run - 0.7 hours - 02/24/2009

This is my first run out with Cody since he’s been back. We’ve been meaning to get together, but it just hasn’t worked. It was good to get out and run with someone.

Today was pretty nice out. It was 24 degrees out with an 8 mph wind from the N. I started out and my feet were cold and they didn’t really start warming up until we got done. Oh well. It was pretty icy on most of the sidewalks where we ran so that affected our pace. There were pretty significant portions of the run where we had to almost walk because it was slippery.

I am not having pain in my quad stemming from the basketball game a week and a half ago when I run, but when I am just sitting around the apartment I have breathtaking pains that shoot through my leg randomly.

I ran on the treadmill at the Y again today. I ran the same random workout at 6 intensity for 30 minutes. I warmed up for 5 minutes and cooled down for 4 minutes both at 6.5 mph. I ran the 30 minutes of the workout at 7.3 mph.

Today I ran on the treadmill at the Y. I tried a new program that I have never done before. It was a random setting where the treadmill randomly adjusts the incline throughout the workout. I set it on intensity 6 and ran for 30 minutes at 7.4 mph and then ran for another 10 minutes at 1% incline at 7.4 mph.

Run - 0.7 hours - 02/18/2009

Holy hell it was cold out today. I think it was 10 degrees out with a 8 mph wind from the NW. The wind chill was below zero and let me tell you, it felt that way. This is the coldest I have been in a long time. I started out running into the wind so that when I was sweaty the wind would be at my back. Yeah…that didn’t help. It was cold.

My quad hurt like hell from a basketball game on Sunday night. I’ve been trying to stretch it, but I don’t know if stretching is going to help an injury where I just got hit really hard. Haha.

This is my first actual run in a few days, but I have been going to the Y and playing ball to get some cardio in. I think I probably won’t go run outside again when it’s this cold. I needed better gloves and a mask on instead of just a beanie.

Today I wanted to get a run in before work. The sidewalks were icy as hell. I don’t like running on sidewalks like that because sometimes it is really hard to see the ice. It was still really nice to get out for the run, though.

I have been taking it a little easier lately with running while basketball is going on. I was kind of starting to feel like I was doing too much so I figured I would use basketball days as cardio once in a while.

Wow. I planned on going for a short run at a slow pace tonight because I already played ball pretty hard for a while earlier. The weather report said it was 34 degrees with a 12 mph wind. It was pretty damn cold out. I didn’t dress right. Consequently, my short run was cut even shorter and my pace was probably a little quicker than I planned on because I was trying like hell to get home. All I could think about was the pizza I was going to get later.

Run - 0.7 hours - 02/05/2009

OH MAN! It felt so good to get outside and run today. The sidewalks are still pretty messy, and I can’t run on most of them. I ran in the street a good deal of the time, but that ends up being a problem because cars are not exactly willing to share the road with a skinny white runner boy. I don’t care, though. It felt amazing. I feel like getting out on the road after running inside for such a large part of the winter makes me want to attack harder when I am outside. Many time I looked at my watch today and saw that I was running a 6:45 pace or a 6:40 pace. I felt like I was cruising; however, the times when I had to navigate around puddles or through slush really slowed my pace. As I was running today I was really wishing that I would have had the time to slow it down a little and do a really long run.

I still have a slight pain in my Achilles Tendons, but it is fading. I played basketball last night for a while and did a lot of stretching before, during, and after that. I think that helped.

Tonight I ran on the track at the YMCA. I ran 35 minutes at a quicker pace and then cooled down for 5 minutes. I think part of the reason my legs are hurting is that I am running around in circles so much that only that one part of my leg is getting worked. I think it would almost be better to be running on a treadmill.
