The first part of this run was a struggle. I really only wanted to go around five miles today, but the route I had planned in my head was a little longer than that and there was no real way to make it shorter when I figured out that I was too far out. I can tell I struggled with this run because my pace was slow from the very beginning.

I was supposed to go with Cody this morning, but he bailed. He wants to go tomorrow, but I might need the day off. If I do go it is going to have to be an easy day.

Today I wanted to run nice and slow to make sure to increase Devin’s distance to work toward his 5k goal. He’s doing better. I am going to get in touch with everyone from the office to see if they will come be there for him when he crosses the finish line. I think it would mean a lot to him.

First long training run for Bismarck Marathon

This was my first long run for the Bismarck Marathon. I want to do one every week on Sunday. I plan to increase by one mile each week which would put my longest training run at 22 miles. I’m not sure that is the best way to go. There is a training plan on www.runnersworld.com that goes about it a little differently. I might talk to Melanie and see what she has to say about it.

Anyway, my goal for the day was to go 10 miles at an 8:30 pace, so I was able to meet that goal for today.

Cody hungover

Today Cody and I planned to go about six miles. Cody had a wicked hangover and we cut it short a little bit. We went back to the Y and I decided to do one more loop around the O’Leary track to make up the milage.

It was almost 90 degrees and my pace reflects this. We plan on doing a long, slow run on Sunday morning.

It was pretty hot out today. I think it was close to 90 degrees. Cody and I ran on the trail on the Mandan side of the river to stay in the shade as much as we could. It was a pretty easy day. I’ll probably go again tomorrow just so I get some more miles in.

This is my first run back in Bismarck. I thought it was going to be easy because I am used to running in hot and humid weather. I was wrong. I struggled lots. I feel lame because this run was so hard and it was only 5.5 miles. I think it might be because I didn’t eat much.

This was a tough run today. It is one of the most hilly runs I have ever gone on. It was 86 degrees out and pretty humid, so I am pretty satisfied with my time. This’ll be my last run in Cincinnati.

Ever since John mentioned that he wanted to run the hills up to Ault Park, I told myself that I would do it before I left.

It was 80 degrees today and humid as hell. I ran without a shirt on today because when it is this humid out sweat doesn’t evaporate and a shirt just weighs me down. I was starting to feel pretty fatigued by the end of this run. My arms were tingling and I was kind of lightheaded because I was hot and didn’t have water on the run. If I get used to running in weather like this, going back to Bismarck to run is going to be cake.

Kind of got myself in a seedy area of town agian, but this time I was not lost. It was warm out today and pretty humid, but it still felt nice to get out and go. I am feeling some pain on the indide of my right knee. I am going to a free sports injury clinic on Thursday this week.
