Run - 0.6 hours - 03/13/2010
Today was a little bit harder than yesterday. I am feeling a little bit of pain in the ball of my right foot. That has been there for a few weeks now. It disappears through the run, but I can feel it when I put extra weight on it and when I am done.

First run back
This is my first run back in about six months. It was easier than I thought. I didn’t really have any pain in my leg, but it didn’t feel as strong as I would like it. I am going to keep doing strengthening exercises and keep stretching.

Run - 0.8 hours - 11/16/2009
Went running right after class. For the first quarter mile my left knee hurt pretty badly, but it got better after that. It hurt when I stopped at lights, but didn’t really hurt through the run.
I don’t know if it is going to go away by itself. I have been taking it easier lately, but I don’t feel it getting better.

Run - 0.8 hours - 09/28/2009
The goal today was to go between five and six. I ended up going a little bit further than that and at a little bit quicker pace than I thought.
My feet are still killing me, but only in the mornings. After I get up and walk around they seem to feel better. This makes me think that the problem is with tendons, ligaments, and muscles in my feet rather than bones. This is a good thing.
I am still trying to get in a routine after the marathon. I am feeling somewhat let down. I ran for so long with the marathon in mind and now that it is done, I kind of feel like I don’t have a reason to run. I need some goals, perhaps.

I have played ball pretty hard a couple days this week…both Wednesday and Thursday. For that reason I have not been running this week as much. Even a week after the marathon, this run was difficult. My body just feels tired.
I registered for the Breast Cancer Awareness run. That one is always pretty fun. It is at night and Melanie (the woman that organizes it) is pretty damn cool. I always try to get some people to come out and support the cause that night.

First run after marathon
This was my first run back after the marathon. I probably should have waited a little longer than I did for my first run, but I was experiencing some frustration and thought a run would help.
I am going in for my first professional massage tomorrow morning. I am going to a place that was my second choice, but I am sure it will be a good experience.
I felt pretty sore about two miles into this run. I might take another two days before I go again. We’ll see how I feel.

Bismarck Marathon
I did it! I made my goal of four hours. At 22 miles Cody and I broke apart and I went from averaging around 8:55 pace to between 8:00 and 8:20. I thought I could keep that up. I was feeling pretty good until about 23 miles. I kept trying to tell myself all I had left was 5k, but my legs were not hearing it. It wasn’t until I had about a quarter of a mile left that I had a last kick. I heard my dad yelling my name and that got me through.
For a first marathon, I am really happy. I am excited to take some time away and rest from some of those long runs.
I am pretty proud of myself.
